Thisdewarsforyou – the longest shot on the board – rallied from slightly off the pace and notched a 1¾-length victory Saturday in the $16,600 Muckleshoot Casino Purse for 3-year-olds and up at Emerald Downs.
Ridden by Eswan Flores, Thisdewarsforyou ran six furlongs in 1:09.41 and paid $26, $9.20 and $3. Neil Knapp is the winning trainer for owner Jug Handle Ranch Thoroughbreds.
A Montana-bred 5-year-old gelding by Double Dewars-Royal River, Thisdewarsforyou has now struck twice at big odds this meet. He led gate to-wire for a $43.60 upset on April 9, and has a career mark of 4-3-3 in 14 starts with earnings of $31,515, including $9,130 for Saturday’s win.
Man of Stature, ridden by Isaias Enriquez, flew late to finish second and paid $4.80 and $2.60. Party Pooper, the 4-5 favorite ridden by Leslie Mawing, finished third and paid $2.10 to show, while War Wizard and Dare Me Devil completed the order of finish.
Flores rode three winners Saturday for his first multiple win day at Emerald Downs, and has eight wins overall since arriving here in mid-May. A 22-year-old native of Tepatitlan, Mexico, Flores previously rode in California and enjoyed a sensational apprentice campaign at the 2011-12 Santa Anita Winter/Spring Meet, when his 54 wins ranked fourth to Joe Talamo, Rafael Bejarano and Joel Rosario.
