For the Reporter
Striking colors and bold design distinguish the exciting Fused Glass artwork of Auburn artist Di Faria.
Faria introduces her newest work, Watercolor Weaves, artfully woven fused glass that mimics the folds and texture of hanging fabric. It is on display through Sept. 29 at the Auburn Community & Event Center Gallery, 910 Ninth St. SE, Auburn.
Exhibit hours are 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday. Admission is free.
“My art is an expression of who I am, a blending of my ideas and creativity with glass and metal,” Faria said. “I strive to create something new, different and beautiful, something unique. Something that has meaning to me. I find the process of creation and execution very satisfying. I’m fascinated with interpreting other mediums such as fabrics, acrylics, watercolor and woven art into glass. I find some ideas work beautifully, others, need fine tuning. but that’s the fun of it, and what draws me back to my studio time after time. I truly enjoy the details and exploration involved for each process and the growth that comes with it.”
The Auburn Arts Commission and Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation present the gallery.
