Auburn Police say two men forced their way into a Lea Hill apartment early one morning in late August, bound and robbed an Auburn family, tore the place apart looking for cash and drugs and whatever else they could lay their hands on then led police on a high-speed chase before their apprehension.

The King County prosecutor has since charged Emilio Johnson. 26, of Seattle, and Timothy Schauer, 26, of Auburn, with one count each of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and first-degree felony harassment.

Both men are in jail at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent. Johnson’s bail is set at $250,000, and Schauer’s at $50,000.

Although the court has yet to schedule a trial date, it has set a case-setting hearing for Schauer on Oct. 17 and Johnson on Oct. 24.

Police say Johnson carried a realistic-looking BB gun during the robbery, and Schauer wielded a crowbar to give the impression he had a gun.

According to what witnesses told police, Johnson had known one of the people in the apartment for two weeks after buying drugs from him.

Police hurried to apartment in the 12700 block of Southeast 312th Street about 7:35 a.m. when a woman told 911 that two intruders in another room were threatening her brother, and she and her 2-year-old daughter were hiding in a bathroom.
