For the Auburn Reporter

King County Executive Dow Constantine presented the Neely Mansion Association with the Single Impact Event Award on behalf of the Association of King County Historical Organizations (AKCHO) at their recent annual awards ceremony.

The award is in recognition of the premiere event of the DVD entitled, “If These Walls Could Talk,” which depicts vignettes in the lives of the five farming families who lived at the Victorian Classic Revival Farmhouse from 1894 through the 1970s. A number of former residents and their descendants were in attendance at last years’ premiere event, attended by more than 200 people from throughout King County.

In honor of the 35th Anniversary of the King County Historic Preservation Program, the AKCHO Awards were combined with the John D. Spellman Historic Preservation Annual Awards.  The ceremony was held at the Museum of History and Industry’s new venue at South Lake Union.

If you would like a copy of the DVD mailed to you, please send the $15 suggested donation with your name and address to the Neely Mansion Association, P.O. Box 738, Auburn, WA 98071-0738.

The Neely Mansion is a county, state and national landmark, listed on the National Register of Historic Places; it is located at 12303 Auburn-Black Diamond Road, just east of the Highway 18 Auburn-Black Diamond Road exit.
