The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 212 calls for service between Jan. 19 and 25, among them the following:
Jan. 19
Aid call: 11:36 a.m., (Algona). Despite a language barrier, firefighters responding to a woman who was complaining of a headache determined that she had flu-like symptoms, so they arranged for a private ambulance to motor her off to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).
Jan. 20
Commercial fire: 7:44 p.m., (Federal Way). Battalion 31 helped South King Fire Rescue at an apartment fire that was spreading from the third-floor unit where it had kindled. Firefighters quickly gained control of the fire and extinguished it. The fire displaced four residents.
Jan. 21
Aid call: 12:32 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters evaluated a woman in distress and asked King County Medics to provide more treatment. Medics transported her to a local hospital.
Jan. 22
Aid call: 10:35 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters examined a man who was suffering chest pains and took vitals before a private ambulance transported him to MAMC.
Jan. 23
Aid call: 6:51 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics finished their evaluation of a senior citizen who was struggling to breathe, and medics transported her to an area hospital.
Jan. 24
Aid call: 11:41 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters treated a man for a hand injury at a local warehouse and arranged for a private ambulance to transport him to a local hospital.
Jan. 25
Aid call: 3:08 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters calmed a young man who had sustained injuries in an assault, treated his wounds, and arranged for a private ambulance to transport him to MAMC.
