The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to a townhouse apartment fire Wednesday morning at 31311 107th Place S.E., Auburn.

The occupant had attempted to siphon gasoline from a five-gallon drum into his work van, using an electric vacuum cleaner. Fire quickly erupted and spread under the van and to the exterior of the adjoining garage and townhouse.

The occupants attempted to contain the fire until firefighters arrived.

The townhouse sustained minor fire damage to the exterior. The van was a total loss. Fire loss is expected to exceed $20,000.

There were no injuries.
