AVIS BAKER (WHITTALL) WEIGAND
Avis was born in Doty, WA on August 11, 1913. She passed away on June 25, 2008 in Federal Way, WA. During her long, active life, she lived in Aberdeen, Olympia, Seattle, Chicago, Tacoma, Carlyle, PA, Washington D.C., Hong Kong, and San Juan Capistrano, CA. She was a Buyer for Rhodes Dept Store, Tacoma, in the mid 1950’s. In 1934, she married Jack D. Whittall, who was a Captain on the Washington State Patrol at the time of death in 1955. She married Jack L. Weigand, a career Army officer, in 1957, who retired as a Colonel and they moved to Southern California where they lived until his death in 1991. She had one son, Peter Whittall, seven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, Rhea V and Josephine Baker, her youngest sister, Mary Ray Noble, of Longview, as well as both of her husbands, Jack Whittall and Jack Weigand. She is survived by her son, Peter and his wife, Lucille, of Auburn, WA, grandchildren Jack and Geoff Whittall, Jennifer Whittall-Whale, Joan Welsh, Mary Aubert, Michael Whittall and Avis Denman, as well as a sister, June Angus of Edmonds, WA. At the time of her death she had been living at Foundation House in Federal Way for 8 years.There was a graveside service for family members at Calvary Cemetery, in Tumwater, on June 30.
