Orval Kenneth Meryhew, age 75, passed away with esophageal and laryngeal cancer on May 7, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family in Auburn, WA. Born in Grand Junction, CO, son of Nivas and Ethel (Burton) Meryhew. He attended school in Kennewick, WA. Orval met his wife Hilda Maria Hemmingson of Mount Vernon, WA. They married September 10, 1955 in Auburn, WA.Orval is survived by his wife Hilda of 54 years; Sons, Terry (Joni) of Onalaska,WA; Tod (Pam) of Centralia, WA; Troy of Houston, TX; Daughter Tamie (Paul) Scholter, Auburn; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Brothers, Vern (Joan) Meryhew of Tukwila; Dick (Mary Ellen) Meryhew of Kent; sisters, Shirley (Gerald) Azeltine of Walla Walla and Joyce Gilbert of Auburn. Orval’s life work was commercial plumbing and a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local #32 in Renton for 56 years. He enjoyed camping and family outings, dirt bike riding, fishing, boating and golf. He was skilled in the art of woodworking and restoring old furniture. As a husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather he was devoted to his family. He showed a great quality of strength even to the end.He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Tab Alan Meryhew. For interest in memorial contributions, please contact the funeral home.
