Auburn Mountainview suffers nondivision 19-2 loss to Curtis | Boys water polo

The Auburn Mountainview boys water polo team suffered a 19-2 nondivision defeat at the hands of powerhouse Curtis on Thursday. The Lions were led by Jonah Kathlean who had both Auburn Mountainview goals.

The Auburn Mountainview boys water polo team suffered a 19-2 nondivision defeat at the hands of powerhouse Curtis on Thursday.

The Lions were led by Jonah Kathlean who had both Auburn Mountainview goals.

The Lions overall record fell to 8-2, but the Lions remain undefeated in East Division play.

The team defeated district rival Auburn this past week 16-7, with Kathlean leading the way with four goals. Tyler Arnold added three with Truman Sulewski, Alex Toney and Owen Lempert all chipping in with two goals apiece. Chase Murphy, Andy Creed and Tony Whisman each added a goal.

Auburn was led by Henry Estey’s four goals with Jacob McInerny, Ben Schwab and JOhn Villandry contributing a goal apiece.

The game was the notable for being the last contest between the Auburn Mountainview and Auburn seniors who all played together on a split squad in 2011. At the time Auburn did not have enough players to turn out a team.
