The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 156 calls for service between Feb. 27 and March 3, among them the following:
Feb. 27
Aid call: 3:15 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters helped an Auburn senior suffering from severe shortness of breath, evaluated her,and placed her on high-flow oxygen before a private ambulance transported her to Auburn Regional Medical Center.
Feb. 28
Aid call: 11:33 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters received a request at their fire station to check the blood pressure of a Sumner resident who had stopped in. Talking to the man, firefighters realized that he was having a significant cardiac event, so they asked medics to help. King County Medic 1 transported him to St. Francis Hospital.
Feb. 29
Aid call: 3:44 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters and King County Medic paramedics responded to a toddler in the grips of a seizure and treated her at the scene before Medic 1 transported her to ARMC.
March 1
Aid call: 4:49 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to an ill child suffering an allergic reaction discovered that the child’s mother had administered Epinephrine via a pen injection before they got there. Firefighters evaluated the child, and a private ambulance transported him or her to ARMC.
March 2
Haz-Mat: 3:15 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters responding to a possible meth-lab in the woods on the West Hill and finding discarded containers of chemicals typically used in the production of methamphetamine determined said chemicals to be outside the VRFA jurisdiction. Firefighters turned the scene over to King County Sheriff’s deputies, who were coordinating the clean up with the Department of Ecology.
March 3
Accident: 8 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters hustling to the 800 block of Harvey Road for a motor vehicle accident found one vehicle on its side and a second leaking fluid. Firefighters extricated one person from the vehicle on its side and a private ambulance transported him or her to ARMC. Everybody else involved in the accident sustained only minor injuries.
