The WHL champion Seattle Thunderbirds open training camp on Wednesday, Aug. 23, with six scrimmages at the ShoWare Center.

The scrimmages, which include three teams made up of players born in 2001 and 2002, are set for Aug. 23 and 24. Scrimmage times each day are 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The scrimmages will be 30-minute run-time games, with a 10-minute warmup and include a shootout, if necessary.

All scrimmages and the Aug. 27 Blue White game are open to the public free of charge. Fans should enter the ShoWare Center from the east side of the building.

The Thunderbirds will play seven exhibition games, beginning with the Delta Hotels Preseason Classic at Xfinity Arena in Everett, where they open against the Vancouver Giants at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1. Classic play continues the following day as the T-Birds face the Everett Silvertips at 7 p.m. The Classic comes to a close for the T-Birds on Sept. 3 with a 3 p.m. game against the Spokane Chiefs.

Preseason play continues for the T-Birds at the Red Lion Hotels’ Preseason Tournament at the Toyota Center in Kennewick. The T-Birds will begin the tournament on Friday, Sept. 8 against the Spokane Chiefs at 3 p.m. Tournament play will conclude Sunday, Sept. 9 with a matchup against the Kootenay Ice at 11 a.m.

The T-Birds wrap up preseason play with back-to-back games against the Silvertips – at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at Xfinity Arena and 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at ShoWare.

Seattle opens the regular season on Kent ice at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23 against the Tri-City Americans.

Single-game tickets for the 2017-18 regular season go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23 online and at the ShoWare Center box office.
