The six annual Barkfest & Rover Romp – a community run/walk to help raise support for lost, abandoned and homeless animals at the Auburn Valley Humane Society – returned Saturday at Roegner Park.

Participants collected pledges prior to the event and brought their dogs for the 3K and 5K walk/run and enjoyed demonstrations, the vendor village of booths, dog and pet costume contests, an inflatable obstacle course, adoptable pets and other activities.

The Rainier Agility Team and the Port of Seattle K-9 Unit presented demonstrations.

Proceeds will help the Auburn shelter provide medical care, food, shelter and veterinary care for the more than 2,000 animals that are lost, abandoned or homeless in the community.

AVHS is a local, independent nonprofit organization, which relies on pet licensing fees and donations to fund the shelter and educational programs.
