Poetry at the Rainbow Café presents the works of Shannon O’Donnell and Rena Priest on Monday, Sept. 4.

The program is from 7 to 9 p.m. at the café, 112 E. Main St.

Coffee and conversation follow readings. It is an open mic opportunity. The public is invited.

About the poets

O’Donnell was born in Seattle, and in spite of sojourns in other lovely places, home is where the mountain anchors the horizon and water leaves no space empty. After 20 years as a high school teacher and a church worker, she went to prison and uncovered stories that begged to be told. She is the author of “Save the Bones”, a memoir of her mother and Alzheimer’s.

Priest writes poetry, fiction and nonfiction. She holds an MFA in writing from Sarah Lawrence College, and has taught various topics in writing and the humanities at Western Washington University, Northwest Indian College, and Fairhaven College. Her poetry chapbook, Patriarchy Blues, was recently released by MoonPath Press.
