Auburn’s 14th annual All-School/Community Food Drive more than 87,000 pounds of food donations.
The drive – the largest coordinated effort between the Auburn School District and Auburn Food Bank – accepted donations March 12-23.
Division winners were: Auburn High School (7,403.63 pounds, 4.44 pounds per student); Olympic Middle School (4,212 total, 5.10); and Lakeland Hills Elementary (19,032.08, 25.78).
In all, 16,442 students in the school district donated a total of 87,242.81 pounds of food, an average of 5.3 pounds per pupil.
Each year schools compete against each other in the elementary, middle and high school categories to see which can bring in the largest amount of food. And each year, many businesses, organizations and residents choose a school to support with their own food drive.
