The Auburn Police Department responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between April 23 and 27:
April 23
Theft: 5:45 p.m., 202 15th St. NE. A person reported the thievery of items from his vehicle while he was at the Grease Monkey, although footage showed that no theft had occurred from the vehicle while it was at the location.
April 24
Theft: 6:20 a.m., 2400 block of 17th Drive Southeast. A man reported that somebody had stolen his boat and trailer, action that a gimlet-eyed surveillance camera picked up.
April 26
Drugs: Overnight, 1300 block of 8th Street Northeast. Police arrested a woman for having heroin.
Vehicle theft: Overnight, 6200 block of South 296th Street. Somebody stole a vehicle that had been parked in a residential driveway.
Postal theft: 8:45 a.m., 31700 block of 112th Avenue Southeast. A resident called to report a mail theft.
Commercial burglary: 2 p.m., 1521 Industry Drive SW. Burglars hit a local business and walked away with an undisclosed quantity of copper wire, worth an equally undisclosed amount of money.
April 27
Animal cruelty: 12:57 a.m., 2000 block of 19th Street Southeast. A Good Samaritan called 911 after finding on the side of a residential street four kittens abandoned in a box that its owner had taped shut. The kittens were taken to the Sumner Veterinary Hospital for safekeeping because of their youth, but appeared to be in relatively decent health.
