Between July 23 and 29, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 268 requests for service, among them the following:
July 23
Accident: 8:53 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters treated a man who’d been involved in a two-car accident, and a VRFA aid unit transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).
July 24
Commercial fire: 6:03 p.m. (Sumner). Firefighters from VRFA Stations 33 and 38 responded as mutual aid to a commercial fire in Sumner, where East Pierce and VRFA units extinguished the fire. The fire is under investigation.
July 25
Aid call: 7:18 p.m., (Pacific). After evaluating a senior citizen who had fallen, firefighters determined that he was dehydrated in the 90-degree heat, and a private ambulance transported him to MAMC.
July 26
Aid call: 10:40 a.m. (Super Mall). Firefighters and King County Medics stabilized a pre-teen girl who had broken her leg, and a private ambulance zipped her off to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma.
July 27
Vehicle Accident: 1:06 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to the scene of a two-car accident along the 29800 block of Green River Road Southeast found both vehicles with significant damage to their passenger sides. Firefighters then treated one man before a private ambulance transported him to Valley Medical Center, extricated one teenage girl whom King County Medics transported to Harborview Medical Center, treated a teenage boy at the scene, and a private ambulance transported four teenage boys to MAMC.
July 28
Aid call: 9:41 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters treated a senior citizen who was complaining of chest pains, and a private ambulance transported him to MAMC for further care.
July 29
Aid call: 10:08 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters and King County Medics responded to a senior citizen who was suffering a cardiac event, and a private ambulance transported him to MAMC.
