The Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International recently selected Auburn’s Denese Moore of the 911 Emergency Communications Center as Supervisor of the Year for 2018.

APCO joins communities and government leaders to honor and recognize public safety telecommunicators for the critical role they play in public safety.

Each year, APCO International accepts nominations for awards in public safety communications and technology leadership categories. Committees comprised of volunteer APCO members throughout the nation rank and score the nominations.

Moore began her career with Valley Com in 1991. She was hired as a call receiver and later promoted to dispatcher, lead dispatcher, supervisor I and her current position of supervisor II.

Kent-based Valley Com provides emergency communications for 23 police, fire and emergency medical services agencies in South King County and is the largest combined 911 Emergency Communications Center in King County.
