The 2018 Xpressbet.com Washington Cup continues Sunday with a stakes double-header for state-bred 2-year-olds: $50,000 Washington Cup Juvenile Colts & Geldings presented by Muckleshoot Casino, and $50,000 Washington Cup Juvenile Filly presented by Pegasus Equine Training & Rehabilitation Center.

The Juvenile – Race 8 at 5:39 p.m. – drew a full field of 12 while the Juvenile Fillies –Race 6 at 4:38 p.m. – drew a field of eight. Both are 6½ furlongs, the farthest distance so far this season for 2-year-olds.

Washington Cup Juvenile races have been among the most chalky stakes in recent years at Emerald Downs. The last five Juvenile Colts & Geldings has produced $2 win prices of $5 (Sippin Fire), $2.40 (So Lucky), $5 (Mach One Rules), $2.10 (Trackattacker) and Noosito ($5.40). With one exception, the Juvenile Filly also has been dominated by favorites: $2.40 (Bella Mia), $2.40 (Risque’s Legacy), $3.80 (Invested Prospect), $42.20 (Seattles Best Copy) and $3.60 (Chu and You).

The first four stakes for 2-year-olds this year, however,have already produced a $98.80 upset by This Great Nation in the WTBOA Lads and $13.80 by Northwest Factor in the Angie C.

After Sunday, the final stakes event for 2-year-olds is the $50,000 Gottstein Futurity at 1 1/16 miles on Sunday, Sept. 23.
