Auburn squeaks by Kent-Meridian 63-62; Riverside ends season with 65-62 loss; Mountainview will play in loser out contest versus Kennedy | Boys Basketball

Nik Edwardson may have only scored two points in No. 4 Auburn’s 63-62 win over Kent-Meridian on Tuesday at Green River Community College, but they were the most crucial points of the game.

With the Trojans trailing the Royals 62-61 with less than a second to go, Edwardson hit 2-of-2 from the free throw line to give Auburn (13-3 league, 17-3 overall) a share of the South Puget Sound League North 4A title.

Iszia Johnson led the Trojans with 21 points, with Kevin Henderson adding 10.

Tyree Bagley had 19 points for fourth-place Kent-Meridian (8-8, 11-9).

The Trojans will play No. 4 Kentridge at 6 p.m. tomorrow for the No. 1 seed into the SPSL 4A tourney which begins Friday at the ShoWare Center in Kent.

The Trojans and the Chargers have split their previous two games this season, with Kentridge coming out on top 61-51 on Jan. 4 and Auburn snatching a 71-70 win on Feb. 1.

ALSO: The Auburn Riverside boys fell short on their quest for the postseason, falling 65-62 to SPSL North 4A third-place Kentwood (11-5, 14-6) Tuesday at Auburn Riverside. Cameron Grad had 29 points in the contest and Prince Ligon added 15 for the Ravens. Riverside finishes sixth in the SPSL North 4A with a 7-9, 8-12 record… Auburn Mountainview (5-5 SPSL 3A, 9-12 overall) fell 57-55 to Enumclaw in a seeding game to for the sub-district tournament. The loss relegates the Lions to a loser-out contest against Kennedy Catholic (10-4, 12-7) at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Kennedy Catholic High School in Burien. The winner will earn the No. 5 seed into the West Central District 3A tournament.
