Auburn police responded to the following calls for service between May 18 and May 14:

MAY 18

Shoplifting: 1:33 a.m., 201 Auburn Way S. An unknown man shoplifted two 18 packs of beer from a business in the 200 block of Auburn Way South, then fled to a small getaway vehicle in a nearby parking lot. As the beer thief fled, he dropped one 18 pack in the street, destroying all the bottles, but abandoned the other pack as he hopped into his vehicle. When police checked the area, they discovered somebody had found the suds and absconded with their boozy treasure.

MAY 17

Burglary: Overnight, 1600 Auburn Way N. Unknown persons entered the secured back lot of Auburn Chevrolet by breaking down the chain link fence gate. Police do not know whether anything actually was taken.

Vandalism: 9 a.m., 12700 block of Southeast 312th Street. Unknown persons broke the windows to two separate vehicles parked at the Seasons at Lea Hill Apartments. No damage estimate was offered.

Burglary: Overnight, 4200 block of A Street Southeast. A man reported that sometime during the night somebody broke into his shed. While the intruder did not take anything, it was the third time he had been the victim of a break-in, but the only time nothing was stolen.

Traffic collision with hit and run: 8:06 p.m., 400 block of M Street Southeast. The victim of a hit and run followed the vehicle to a nearby apartment complex but couldn’t identify the driver.

Assault: 11:19 p.m., 1500 block of 29th Street Southeast. Police arrested a male person for assaulting his girlfriend. He punched her, dragged her by the neck and pushed her to the ground. He also damaged property inside the residence. He was charged with 4th-degree assault and 3rd-degree malicious mischief.

Traffic offense: 11:30 p.m., 1200 block of Auburn Way North. Police arrested a male for reckless driving after he lost control of his vehicle and rolled it over in a parking lot. Police did not say if the male was injured.

Robbery: 1:12 a.m., 3300 block of D Street Southeast. A male person was walking along when an unknown male jumped him and demanded all his money. The victim sustained lacerations to the back of his head but no money was taken. He was transported to Auburn Regional Medical Center.

MAY 16

Forcible fondling: 2:30 p.m., 202 N. Division Street. A male patient at Auburn Regional Medical Center tried to sexually assault a female patient.

Theft of purse: 12:30 a.m., 2402 Auburn Way S. A woman reported that somebody stole her purse while she was playing a slot machine at the Muckleshoot Casino.

Stabbing: 8:31 a.m., 4th Street Northeast. A 21-year-old man was stabbed near the Green River at the end of 4th Street Northeast early Friday morning.Valley Regional Fire Authority responded and found the man had been stabbed one time under the left arm. He was evaluated and transported to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition. The man’s identity, his place of residence or the events leading up to the stabbing have not been released.

MAY 15

Theft: Overnight, 700 block of A Street Northeast. A man reported that his garbage-filled utility trailer was stolen from his job site.

Vandalism: 5:07 p.m., 500 block of 17th Street Southeast. As police put it, “a vandalism occurred.” Details of said vandalism were not forthcoming, so what happened must remain a mystery.

MAY 14

Vandalism: Overnight, 500 4th Street Northeast. Auburn Parks, Arts and Recreation staff reported that a person or persons had spray painted gang graffiti on the playground and restrooms at Veterans Memorial Park. No damage estimate was given.
