Residents, groups to receive Outstanding Service to Veterans Awards in Auburn

Two Washington veterans organizations and seven residents, including Auburn’s Aaron Quinonez, will be honored Saturday with Outstanding Service to Veterans Awards for their contributions during the past year.

The awards – co-sponsored each year by the Governor’s Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee (VAAC) and the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs – recognize individuals who devote time and energy to improving the lives of Washington’s veterans and their families.

The awards will be presented at the Auburn Noon Lions Veterans Day Luncheon at 1:30 p.m. at Merrill Gardens, 18 First St. SE.

The remaining recipients are: Bruce McKenty (Lakewood); Eric Fritts (Tonasket); Eric Ballentine (Puyallup); Leslie O’Bannon (Stanwood); Heartbeat for Wounded Warriors (Onalaska); The Mission Continuous – Tacoma 1st Service Platoon; Sen. Jim Honeyford, R-Sunnyside, 15th Legislative District; and Rep. Cindy Ryu, D-Shoreline, 32nd Legislative District.
