Auburn Riverside High School’s Ashley Ray, swimming, is the Auburn Reporter’s Athlete of the Week.
Q: What is your favorite subject in school?
A: Algebra/trig and chemistry.
Q: What other activities do you participate in?
A: I play trumpet in band and piano outside of school.
Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?
A: My parents have helped me succeed the most because they have given me endless support. They have supported me the most by coming to all of my meets and bringing me to practice.
Q: Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?
A: I usually eat a lot of pasta the night before. I went to Olive Garden the night before districts and state with my team.
Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?
A: “Thunderclouds” by Sia.

“Ashley had a fantastic season for the Ravens. She set the school record in the 100-yard breaststroke. She was also a part of the 200 medley, 200 freestyle and 400 free relays that all broke school records and qualified for state. At the state championship meet, Ashley placed 12th in the 100 breaststroke and was a part of the 200 medley relay that finished 11th. Ashley was also named first-team All-NPSL Olympic Division.”

Auburn Riverside High School’s Camden Heilborn, junior setter, volleyball, is the Auburn Reporter’s Athlete of the Week.
Q: What is your favorite subject in school?
A: Math because I love how it is like a puzzle, and once you figure the problem out, everything makes sense.
Q: What other activities do you participate in?
A: I love to play tennis and beach volleyball. I also enjoy baking and spending time with my siblings.
Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?
A: My parents because they have taught me so much through their love and kindness, not only toward me, but to everyone. They always have my back. They’re my best friends.
Q: Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?
A: My pre-game ritual is having a dance party with the team. We just go all out and have so much fun.
Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?
A: I love the song “Omen” by Sam Smith.

“Cam led her team back to the state tournament after leading her young team back to a fifth consecutive league championship and a state tournament run. She was named MVP of the NPSL Olympic Division. Cam is a great leader, on and off the floor, has a tremendous work ethic and a positive attitude. ”
