Retirement planning is hard work – it isn’t as easy as it seems.
A group of retired school employees from Washington State School Retirees Association’s four King County units – including Unit 19 that includes Kent, Auburn, Renton, Tahoma school districts – presents a retirement seminar on March 23 for anyone who works or has worked for a public school in Washington.
The seminar is from 7:45 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 23 at the Madison House, 12215 NE 128th St., Kirkland, near the Village at Totem Lake
The group wants all school area educators and support staff, from janitors and cooks to bus drivers, as well as teachers, to have access to the free retirement seminar with state and local experts to help plan for the momentous event.
The highlight of the conference will be master of ceremonies Alan Burke, Executive Director of The Washington State School Retirees Association, who will provide an introduction to WSSRA, Social Security as well as Medicare.
Jamie Lane from Public Employees Benefit Bureau will discuss insurance benefits available to school district retirees, including PEBB (Public Employees Benefits Board) and inform attendees as to SEBB (School Employees Benefits Board).
Jim Mendoza from Department of Retirement Services will present Pension Plans 2 and 3 of TRS, PERS and SERS.
Association Member Benefits Advisors (AMBA) will be on hand to discuss the benefits derived from joining Washington State School Retirees Association including long term care options.
