Four Auburn parents and their children joined 394 other parents and children for what was easily the largest rally in Olympia this year, supporting restructuring our Auburn’s K-12 public schools.
We know our Auburn schools and teachers work very hard to give our children the best education possible, but we need a more commonsense school structure to give our kids their best possible future.
We need all our kids to be able to count to 10 before they reach kindergarten.
We need to provide more support for new teachers, so they can teach as effectively as possible over their long careers.
Olympia funds Auburn schools $14 million a year less than our state average … we need fair education funding across the state.
We need transparency of funding, we need transparency of expenditures, and we need a transparent understanding of our students’ learning improvements, to earn our voters and taxpayers’ support of quality Auburn education.
And finally, we need to thank Auburn legislators Pat Sullivan and Skip Priest for their outstanding leadership, moving us all toward these common goals. And they need our support.
