FedEx box truck caught fire on SR 167 Friday morning, snarling traffic for miles

A 25-foot FedEx box truck sustained serious damage in a fire on southbound SR-67 in Auburn early Friday morning, Aug. 2.

The truck caught fire near 15th Street Southwest, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson and FedEx officials.

Firefighters put out the conflagration, but not before it had brought several miles of the highway to a standstill.

Nobody was hurt.

“Packages and contents were collected and carefully examined for damage and affected shippers will be notified,” FedEx officials said in a prepared statement. “Customers with questions about their shipments can track their packages on fedex.com or call 1-800-GO-FEDEX. Customers should contact the shipper to begin the claims process if they suspect their shipment has been damaged.”
