A smoke alarm alerted two residents in time to escape their burning home on Auburn’s West Hill Thursday afternoon.
According to the Valley Regional Fire Authority and South King Fire and Rescue, the mid-afternoon fire heavily damaged the home at 321st and 58th and burned three cars. Two cats were reported missing.
Fire investigators have determined that the fire in the 32000 block of 58th Avenue South on Auburn’s was accidentally caused by an electrical problem.
Damage to the 4,300-square-foot home and contents was extensive with an estimated loss of $1.5 million, the VRFA said.
