March 1, 1927 – August 12, 2019

Lois Mae (Sturtz) Olson was born in Wenatchee, Washington to Edmund and Verna Sturtz, she was the eldest of three.

Lois grew up in Pacific and moved to Seattle to work for the Department of Army, where she met her future husband of 64 years James “Jimmy” Olson. Lois married her best friend and love of her life on October 5, 1950, at Fort Lewis, Washington.

Lois and Jimmy raised their six children in Federal Way. Lois had many hobbies, she was a talented artist as a china painter and by crocheting beautiful layette sets and afghans, for her children, grandchildren and anyone in need. For many years she was involved in the North Lake Garden Club. Lois was a longtime homemaker and after raising her children she went to work for Safeway in the Bakery and Deli. In later years she was an Avon Representative.

Above all, she had an unbreakable love for her family and God. Lois loved her grandchildren dearly and was always with them whether it was shuttling them to sporting events or having slumber parties. Lois was very involved in her church community, she volunteered countless hours, was a leader for the girls Primrose youth group. She was active in Bible Study and the ladies Joy Fellowship. Lois had been attending Calvary Temple (Northwest Family Church) since she was the age of five. She had a beautiful sense of humor that she never lost and one she will be remembered for.

Lois is preceded in death by her husband James and brother Paul. Lois leaves behind her children; Denny (Linda), Pam (Steve), Warren (Tracy), Brad (Jane), Julie (Mike) and Cindi (John) and twelve grandchildren.

Her family would like to thank the caring staff at Judson Park in Des Moines for making her last days comforting.
