A man will be staying with friends following a fire that damaged his unit in the Greyton Square Apartments, 2832 F St. SE, Auburn.

The fire occurred at approximately 1 p.m. today.

Three Valley Regional Fire Authority fire engines, a medical aid unit and a ladder truck responded to the fire, which was quickly extinguished and confined to the laundry room of the unit.

Smoke and water damage to the unit were moderate and will need to be repaired before it can be reoccupied.

The fire is under investigation.
