Mayor Backus kicks off food drive in partnership with Auburn Food Bank and Waste Management

Auburn Mayor Nancy Backus and Auburn Food Bank Director Debbie Christian on Thursday morning kicked off the 2019 Mayor’s Day of Concern for the Hungry – and a curbside food drive for residents.

Waste Management also presented a $1,500 check to the Auburn Food Bank at City Hall in the community’s fight against hunger.

From Sept. 23-27, Auburn residents can participate by placing food donations in bags or boxes next to WM carts by 7 a.m. on their regular WM service day. Please label bags or boxes “Food Drive.”

Waste Management will pick up and deliver the donations to the Auburn Food Bank.

Acceptable items

• Sealed, non-perishable and unexpired food

• Non-food items such as diapers and toiletries

• Please, no alcohol or glass containers

Go to the WM-Auburn website to see the full list of acceptable items at wmnorthwest.com/auburn.
