The King County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit found the body of a missing 20-year-old Auburn man on Monday inside of a vehicle submerged in Star Lake near the Kent and Federal Way city borders.

Star Lake is just south of South 272nd Street and east of Military Road South in unincorporated King County.

Auburn Police took a missing report about the man, who was last seen at about 2 a.m. on Sept. 30 at a party in the Star Lake area, according to an email from Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Ryan Abbott. The victim’s brother on Monday went to the area of the party to look for his brother. He found vehicle debris near the boat launch that he suspected belonged to his brother’s car.

The brother called 911 and deputies found the vehicle submerged in the water. The Marine Unit got to the vehicle and confirmed the 20-year-old man was inside the vehicle deceased, Abbott said.

“Detectives tell me no foul play is suspected, this sounds like a tragic accident,” Abbott said.

As of Wednesday morning, the King County Medical Examiner’s Office had not yet released the man’s identification.
