The city of Auburn has announced the winners of its 54th annual Veterans Parade & Observance on Nov. 9.
An all-veteran panel of three judges took on the task of deciding the winners out of the 200 entries, of which included military entries, ROTC units, veteran service organizations and numerous bands.
There are six award categories, with the most prestigious award being the General’s Award – Best in parade.
This year’s winners:
General’s Award – Best in Parade
#139 – Grants Pass Marching Band & Color Guard
Admiral’s Award – Best Military Entry
#88 – Graham-Kapowsin High School Army Junior ROTC
Memorial Award to Harold Page – Best Veteran Service Organization Entry
#151 – Gamewardens Association, Northwest Chapter
Colonel’s Award – Best Motorized Entry
#147 – Friends of Willie & Joe
Veteran’s Award – Best Non-Motorized Entry
#145 – 2nd Connecticut Regiment of Militia
Mayor’s Award – Best Musical or Drill Entry
#105 – Eisenhower Cadet Marching Band and Color Guard
The Curb Competition was created in 2010 as a way for groups/organizations that do not fit the parade criteria, to still participate in the event and honor veterans and active military personnel.
Award winners are:
• Best Curb Appeal – EZ-Access
• Most Patriotic – Knights of Columbus
