The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 263 calls for service between Dec. 30 and Jan. 5, among them the following:
Dec. 30
Aid call: 8:22 a.m., Firefighters responded to a person in his or her early 60’s who was suffering a stroke, and transported that person to Valley Medical Center for treatment.
Dec. 31
Accident: 11:35 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a moderate, two-car, mechanism-related accident evaluated and treated five people in one vehicle, three of them children. A VRFA ambulance transported four of the injured to MultiCare MAMC, and a private ambulance transported the fifth to MAMC.
Jan. 1
Dog bite: 2:31 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters helped a woman who had sustained multiple dog bites, and a private ambulance transported her to MAMC for further treatment.
Passenger vehicle fire: 4:03 p.m., (Auburn) . By extinguishing three burning cars in a tow yard, firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to other vehicles. The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the incident.
Jan. 3
Residential fire: 5:20 a.m., (Auburn). Once Firefighters and King County Fire District 44 had confirmed that all residents of a garage-house afire in south Auburn were out, they extinguished the fire, and determined that it had not extended beyond the garage. All residents were able to reoccupy the home. A VRFA investigator is working the case.
Aid call:9:30 a.m., (Algona). Firefighters evaluated an old man who was struggling to breathe, and King County Paramedics transported him to MAMC.
Jan. 5
M otor Vehicle Accident: 6:47 p.m.,(Auburn). Firefighters worked with Auburn Police to find and help the driver of a vehicle that had spun off a roadway into a field during the ourse of a multiple-vehicle collision. One of the drivers involved sustained minor injuries, and a VRFA aid unit transported that person to MAMC.
