Auburn School District Superintendent Alan Spicciati posted the following update March 27 to the district’s website:
‘I hope your family is doing well during this unprecedented time,” Spicciati wrote. “We are working hard to support our district during the closure and I would like to update you on some topics that impact our community.”
Engaging students
As we come to the end of the second week at home, it has been amazing to see how teachers are connecting with students in new and innovative ways! We want to keep our students engaged in their learning. We recommend every student read, write, practice math, get physical activity, and be creative every day. Just having started, we are continuing to refine how we provide educational resources and support to our students.
Support for families
We have a website dedicated to providing families with information, resources and updates. Please visit www.auburn.wednet.edu/covid19. Not only is there support for online learning resources, but there is information about community resources. We will continue to add to this site to help support our community. Parents are encouraged to monitor and maintain boundaries for students on their at-home devices and school accounts using Securly.
Changes in Meal Locations for March 30-April 3
The Auburn Riverside site is moving to Ilalko Elementary for the weeks of March 30-April 3 and April 6-10. If your student was going to ARHS for meals, please go to Ilalko Elementary instead. This is needed to complete scheduled maintenance in the ARHS kitchen.
* Meals will no longer be served at Washington Elementary. If your student was going to Washington, please go to Auburn High School for meals.
* Auburn Mountainview was left off of the site list last week. Meals are being served at Auburn Mountainview.
* Serving times at the school sites is 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. We also are delivering to 50 bus stops throughout the Auburn, Algona and Pacific. Exact times and locations are available on the ASD website and in the attached PDF.
Social distancing at meal sites
In an effort to slow the spread of this virus and protect our families and staff, we are implementing stronger social distancing guidelines at our sites. ASD will not be delivering meals to cars, an adult is asked to park the car and retrieve the needed number of meals.
When walking up to a school or bus delivery stops, please remind your child to maintain the recommended six foot spacing for social distancing. We want everyone to remain healthy during this crisis.
School playground equipment & courts are closed
We are following health department guidance in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.
This closure means:
* “Touch surfaces” including playground structures and swing sets are closed
* All courts are closed (basketball, tennis)
* Open spaces that are normally available remain open for activities such as walking and biking
* Everyone must maintain social distancing
* Groups of people may not gather, including team sports
Please observe these rules so we can all do our part to slow the spread.
2020-2021 school waivers
All ASD offices are closed to the public. If you are requesting a waiver for the 2020-2021 school year, the waiver does not need to be dropped off. Waivers can be emailed to transfers@auburn.wednet.edu.
