Between July 6 and July 12, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 245 calls for service, among them the following:
July 6
Aid call: 6:32 p.m. (Lea Hill). Firefighters and King County Medics treated a kid who was unresponsive, and a private ambulance transported the youngster to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) for further evaluation and treatment.
July 7
Accident: 1:22 pm., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a two-vehicle accident on 3rd Street Southeast treated a woman for shoulder pain, and a VRFA aid unit transported her to MAMC.
July 8
Accident: 7:45 p.m., (Pacific Raceway). Firefighters and Mountain View Fire and Rescue responding for a severe racecar crash helped with patient care and gathered information on the injured person while King County Medics treated the injured person and transported him or her to Harborview Medical Center.
July 8
Dumpster fire: 6:09 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters first contained a fire to a 30-yard dumpster filled with cardboard rolls outside a commercial building, and then overhauled the debris. Video cameras on the business showed that an improperly discarded cigarette was to blame.
July 9
Accident: 8:44 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters King County Paramedics responding to a single motorcycle accident found, evaluated and treated a middle-aged man who’d sustained multisystem trauma, and paramedics zipped him off him to Harborview Medical Center.
July 11
River rescue: 5:19 p.m.(Auburn – Green River). Swift water rescue technicians responded as part of a multi-agency response to help two kayakers who were stranded on the river. Technicians rafted from Neely Mansion to the stranded kayakers and assisted them across the river and provided transport to an extraction point. Neither of the kayakers was injured.
July 12
Accident: 12:17 a.m., (North Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medic One responded to West Valley Highway, where a car had collided with a semi-truck trailer. The car suffered significant damage, and its driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased driver was left in the vehicle until Auburn Police wrapped up their investigation. Firefighters were called out in the early morning to help Auburn police remove the driver from the vehicle.
