The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 282 calls for service between Aug. 17 and Aug. 23, among them the following:
Aug. 17
Aid call: 8:15 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters assessed a senior citizen who’d been kicked in the head by a horse and then transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) for further treatment and evaluation.
Aug. 18
High-angle rope rescue: 3:15 p.m., (Enumclaw). Firefighters responded to reports of a woman who had fallen down a steep embankment at the bottom of a cliff, suffering a broken wrist and rendering her unable to walk up the steep path on her own. Puget Sound, Enumclaw, South King and Valley Regional Fire Departments set up a rope rescue system and lifted the woman out with a stokes basket before a private ambulance transported her to a local hospital.
Aid call: 7:15 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a young man who was seizing, and a private ambulance transported him to MAMC.
Aug 20
Accident: 10:20 a.m. (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a 1-car rollover atPacific Raceways treated the driver, and a private ambulance transported the driver to MAMC for further evaluation and treatment.
Aug. 21
Aid call: 4:46 p.m., (Pacific). Called to assist the Washington State Patrol, firefighters evaluated and helped a man who was showing signs of a drug overdose, and a private ambulance hurried him to a nearby hospital.
Aug. 22
Vehicle accident: 5:20 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters treated and released a driver who had struck a deer along westbound Highway 18, injuring the man’s face. The deer did not survive.
Aug. 23
Aircraft standby: 11:28 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to an aircraft that had been having trouble with its front landing gear at the Auburn Airport. The pilot landed safely with no injuries and minimal damage to the aircraft.
