Robert Jack Terrell
July 30, 1921 – September 2, 2020
Robert Terrell, former Auburn
elementary school principal,
passed away at the age of 99.
Robert was born and lived in
Anacortes, WA until joining
and serving in the Navy during
World War II from March
1942 to August 1946. He was
stationed in Brazil working
as an Aviation Radioman in
the belly of PBY airplanes. He
married the love of his life,
Josephine Barcott, in Memphis, Tennessee
March 10, 1945. Soon after Bob attended
Western Washington University majoring in
Education. Bob and Jo lived and grew their
family in Auburn, WA where Bob started
as a 4th grade teacher, later becoming an
elementary school principal at several schools
in Auburn. After retirement he enjoyed
playing golf, traveling, gardening, and
spending time with his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. Bob, and his cherished
dog Gracie, lived his final years at Cedar
Ridge Retirement home in Bonney Lake.
Bob’s mind stayed sharp to the end. He was
interested in current events
and politics and enjoyed all
sports on TV. He was kind and
thoughtful and well-liked by
everyone.
He was preceded in death by
his parents Henry C and Bertha
Brokens Terrell, and his beloved
wife of 72 years Josephine
Barcott.
He is survived by children
Robert F Terrell (Merribeth),
Susan Berntson (Brent), Laurie Degnan
(James), grandchildren, Brian Berntson, Stacy
Owens (Jason), James Degnan, Jay Degnan,
Jennie Elliott (Jake), great grandchildren
Samantha and Cooper Owens and Skyla
Elliott, and many nieces, nephews, and
friends.
A private (due to Covid-19) funeral mass
will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church
on September 23, at 10:00 A.M. followed by
internment at Tahoma National Cemetery.
