Between Sept. 21-26, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 258 calls for service, among them the following:

Sept. 21

Oven fire: 4:07 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responding to a report of an oven fire found that the fire had extended to the cabinets, and found a neighboring off-duty police officer who had knocked the fire down with a garden hose. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and confirmed that there was no further extension.

Sept. 22

Car vs. bicyclist: 2:30 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a man with back pain who had been struck by a car while he was riding his bicycle, and a private ambulance motored him to a local hospital.

Sept. 23

Shooting: 2:53 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County paramedics responding to the 2200 block of Auburn Way North for a dual shooting started CPR on one woman, but she could not be saved, and paramedics transported the second to Harborview Medical Center.

Sept. 24

Vehicle fire: 6:25 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a commercial vehicle fire found a fully involved box truck in an open lot without any structural exposures, so they pulled a hose line to drown the fire, containing the damage to the box truck.

Sept. 25

Accident: z7:04 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 37th Street Northeast and Auburn Way North found that the collision had blocked multiple northbound lanes with scattered debris and the damaged vehicles. Both vehicles had sustained significant damage to their front ends and air bags had deployed in both vehicles. Three people involved in the collision and all had non-life-threatening injuries. All patients were transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center by multiple VRFA aid units and private ambulances.

Shooting: 1:59 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medic One responding to a report of gunshots in an apartment complex treated a man with multiple gunshot wounds to his back, and Medic 6 transported him to Harborview Medical Center for further evaluation.

Sept. 26

Accident: 11:20 a.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a vehicle accident found a middle-aged woman who had lost control of her vehicle, striking three large metal fence posts and a tree after a bee flew into her vehicle. The driver suffered only a minor elbow injury caused by front-and-side airbags. The driver declined to be transported. The bee’s status is unknown.

Sept. 27

Aid call: 6:52 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a teenage boy with a rapid heart rate determined that he was in the throes of super-ventricular tachycardia so they called in King County Medic One, who converted the arrhythmia to a normal heart rhythm. The patient was transported to MAMC for follow up.
