Firefighters find person on side of road after vehicle vs. bicycle accident | Fire blotter

Between Dec. 28 and Jan. 3, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 231 calls for service, among them the following:

Dec. 28

Accident: 9:14 a.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responding to a two-vehicle collision on a residential street found one vehicle with moderate front-end damage, air bag deployment and one person complaining of minor aches, who did not require further care at a hospital.

Dec. 29

Aid call: 6:50 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters treated a woman who was complaining of abdominal pain, and a private ambulance transported her to Multicare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

Dec. 30

Aid call: 11:57 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters were dispatched to a middle-aged man who had experienced a possible seizure while operating his motor vehicle, but he was able to drive into a grassy area between Hwy 167 and Hwy 18 without damaging his vehicle or any other vehicle. The man was not hurt and declined further medical attention, so his wife picked him up at the scene.

Dec. 31

Accident: 11:51 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responding to a car accident on Ellingson Road near Highway 167 evaluated multiple people, none of whom were hurt. Firefighters assisted the Pacific Police Department with scene safety and traffic control.

Jan. 1

House fire: 2:55 a.m., (Algona). The first crews responding to a house fire in Algona aggressively attacked the second floor fire, which displaced four people. The fire is under investigation.

House fire: 4:02 a.m., (Auburn). The first crews responding to a house fire in south Auburn saw flames extending from multiple windows, but they were able to protect multiple exposures and get a quick knock-down of the fire. The fire displaced three people, and is under investigation.

Jan. 2

Accident: 2:57 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a vehicle vs. bicycle accident evaluated one person, whom they found lying on the edge of the road. The person was transported to MAMC with minor injuries.

Jan. 3

Tree over roadway: 8:20 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a tree in the roadway on West Valley Highway just north of Highway 18 used a chainsaw to clear it.
