Virginia Trumbull, 91, passed away in the early morning on April 9, 2021 at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, WA, where she had moved recently.
She was born on May 8, 1929, in Seattle WA, and was raised in Kent where she attended the Thomas School. She often
spoke of the numbers of Japanese students that attended the school and then suddenly “disappeared” during World War II. She married Roy Trumbull on Jan. 10, 1948. They spent the first few years of their marriage in Lewiston, ID before moving to Kent, WA. Early in their marriage she worked in Kent at the Cannery and also Lamiglas making fiberglass fishing poles.
She loved her family, friends, needlework, jewelry making and travel. She and her husband enjoyed visiting relatives throughout the United States, from California to New Jersey, Washington to Florida, and also traveled to England to visit the country of her father’s birth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Trumbull; brothers, Rod and Larry Smith; son, Jerry Trumbull; granddaughter, Jennifer Schmutzler. She is survived by her daughters Louise Schmutzler, Wenatchee, WA, and Victoria Brunz, Pacific, WA; grandsons Josef Schmutzler (Georgina), Maple Valley, WA; James Schmutzler, Wenatchee, WA; and Marcel Smith-Brunz (Melissa), Yakima, WA, and three great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters.
At her request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in her name or to Children’s Hospital and Medical Center.
