The Auburn School District Board of Directors selected Valerie Gonzales as the board representative for director district 3. Auburn School District Superintendent Alan Spicciati administered the oath of office at the June 27 board meeting.
Gonzales fills the position vacated when Melissa Laramie moved out of the school district. The board selected Gonzales after conducting interviews June 6 and June 20. Her appointment goes through November 2023, when the position will be up for election.
Gonzales is looking forward to her new role and bringing her energy and experience to serve the students of Auburn, she said. She is a Licensed Practical Nurse and works at Maxim Health Care. She earned her nursing degree from Green River College and is the mother of five — four of whom attend Auburn schools.
“Auburn is fortunate to have a committed school board and Ms. Gonzales will be an asset on our board,” Spicciati said.
