The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 323 calls for service between July 18 and July 24, among them the following:
July 18
Call: 9:37 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters treated and stabilized two people who had fallen from a roof before paramedics evaluated them and a private ambulance zipped them off to Valley Medical Center.
July 19
Aid call: 12:19 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters treated an unresponsive man who had driven into the median on Highway 18 east of Southeast 304th Street and transported him to MultiCare Covington Medical Center for further care and evaluation.
July 20
Aid call: 1:01 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters helped a man who’d sustained obvious ankle fracture to a comfortable position where they splinted his injury. A private ambulance motored the man to Valley Medical Center.
July 21
Brush Fire: 3:21 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters arrived at a bushfire near the White River where they found an intentionally-set fire at a homeless encampment that was spreading to nearby trees. Firefighters extinguished the fire with hose lines and overhauled the area. The fire is under investigation. Nobody was hurt.
July 23
Accident: 5:54 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a 3-vehicle accident at the intersection of 304th and 116th Street on Lea Hill found traffic blocked, two significantly-damaged vehicles on the roadway and one vehicle that had gone through a chain link fence and nearly landed in a retention pond. Firefighters triaged and treated multiple patients present. King County Medic One evaluated two patients on scene. A private ambulance transported three people from the same vehicle to Harborview Medical Center.
Accident: 6:20 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a pickup truck vs. semi-truck collision that had caused significant damage to both vehicles and scattered debris from the pickup all over the street. One occupant of the pickup truck required advanced medical care from King County Medic One before Airlift Northwest flew him to Harborview Medical Center. Firefighters evaluated the driver of the semi-truck on scene and deemed he had not sustained any significant injuries. The accident closed C Street Southeast for hours.
July 24
Rope rescue: 8:02 p.m., (Green River Gorge). Technical Rescue Team Members, Enumclaw Fire, Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, and South King Fire Rescue used a rope system off of a ladder truck to pluck five people from the bottom of the Green River Gorge and bring them up to the Kummer Bridge. No one was injured.
