Auburn spreads out a smorgasbord of spring activities

The movers and shakers in Auburn have planned lots of fun stuff for all ages to groove on this spring and summer. Here’s what’s coming up.

Easter Egg Hunt: The Auburn Noon Lions holds its annual Easter egg hunt on April 8, starting at 1 p.m. at Les Gove Park. The hunt is open to all children up to 12 years of age, including special-needs kids, divided into four age groups. There will be several prizes scattered among the eggs, and the Easter Bunny will put in a special appearance, according to Monty Moore, president of the Auburn Noon Lions Easter Egg Hunt. There is no cost to participate.

Peter Cotton Trail: Friday, April 7, to Monday, April 10. Grab your peeps and hop around Auburn in search of that elusive bunny that’s been hidden in various parks and trails. Find 10 bunnies and complete the online Bunny Scorecard for a chance to win great prizes. Event runs from dawn to dusk in various parks and along different trails in Auburn.

Petpalooza: Saturday, May 20, at Game Farm Park. A free event for pet lovers and a special day at Auburn’s Game Farm Park for your four-legged family member or other furry friend. The award-winning festival offers live entertainment, an agility area, pet contests, face painting and other children’s activities, loads of vendor booths, pet adoptions, pet services, giveaways, food vendors and lots of activities to keep humans and pets entertained .It all kicks off at 9:30 a.m. with Dog Trot, a family-oriented “chip-timed” race that starts and finishes at the same location. Participants follow a 3K or 5K route that is flat, easy and enjoyable for all ages and ability levels. Awards are given to the top participant in six age groups. The first 100 participants to register for Dog Trot receive a free Petpalooza insulated picnic bag. Registration form and complete event rules and information are listed on the city’s website. Registration fees apply to the Dog Trot only. Early registrations on or before March 31 are $20 and net participants an event T-Shirt, race bib and finisher’s medal. On-site Registration is $30 and includes an event T-shirt, race bib and finisher’s medal, while supplies last.

Auburn Farmers Market: Sundays, June 4 through Sept. 17. The Auburn Farmers Market provides a convenient venue for local farmers and artisans to provide access to healthy, fresh, locally sourced food and products to area residents. The market is a vibrant gathering place where visitors can learn about healthy food choices, and overall health and well-being. Juneteenth: Sunday, June 18. Juneteenth is an annual holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. The celebration will feature live music, food trucks, inflatable rides for the kids to enjoy and opportunities to support Black businesses. Kids Day: Friday, June 23. The perfect day for any child. Live entertainment, inflatable rides, mini golf, hands-on ArtRageous activities, face painting, activities and information fair featuring over 100 vendors, vehicle/equipment display, food concessions and more.
