20-year-old man killed in Auburn shooting

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim of a shooting on May 30 in Auburn that resulted in the death of a 20-year-old man.

According to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, Fabian Gonzalez, 20, died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. The medical examiner’s office marked Gonzalez’s death as a homicide.

Auburn police arrested two juvenile suspects, a boy and girl, in Oregon the morning of May 31 with the assistance of the Gresham Police Department, according to the department’s social media. Police also recovered the vehicle involved in the shooting.

Extradition efforts to return the suspects to Washington are underway, according to the department.

The Auburn Police Department received reports on May 30 at approximately 9:32 a.m. regarding shots fired at the intersection of 4th Street and Auburn Way South.

According to the department, the suspects’ vehicle pulled up next to the victim’s vehicle at a stoplight and fired multiple shots into the vehicle. The shots struck Gonzalez, sitting in the passenger seat. First responders pronounced Gonzalez dead at the scene.

The incident resulted in closures in parts of 4th Street the morning of the incident.
