The Auburn Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run that occurred early Sunday morning, resulting in the death of a 33-year-old man.

Auburn police responded to the scene of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Oct. 22 at approximately 12:40 a.m. in the 30800 block of 124th Avenue Southeast.

Upon arrival, police discovered a 33-year-old laying in the road, said Kolby Crossley, public information officer for the department. Patrol officers started attempting lifesaving measures, with medics arriving after and continuing treatment.

At approximately 1:15 a.m., first responders pronounced the man dead.

Police interviewed and received descriptions of the vehicle from witnesses at the scene and reviewed traffic cameras in investigation of the incident.

Using debris from the vehicle found at the scene, the department determined the suspect vehicle to potentially be a metallic gray 2023 Nissan Altima.

According to the Auburn Police Department, the vehicle “should have obvious damage to the driver’s side, including the windshield.”

The Auburn Police Department requested public assistance for information regarding the case and identifying the vehicle and suspect responsible.

Investigation into the incident continues.

“If you hit something, whether it’s a person or an object, it’s extremely important that you stay at the scene and don’t run, because the consequences will be ten times worse,” Crossley said. “Say the person was at fault that got hit. Because you fled the scene … now you’re at fault.”
