A New Year’s Eve shooting in Auburn at a residential party resulted in the hospitalization of a man.
According to the Auburn Police Department, the suspect of the shooting remains at-large as of Jan. 2.
Auburn police responded at around 10:30 p.m. Dec. 31 to reports of a shooting in the 29000 block of 55th Place South, according to the department. Officers arrived to find an adult man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Another bullet grazed a second victim who refused medical attention at the scene.
Through investigation of the incident, police learned that the suspect was firing rounds into the air outside the party when the victim confronted him and told him to stop, according to the department. The suspect stopped and a confrontation ensued between the suspect and victim within the residence that resulted in the suspect shooting the victim.
According to the department, the victim was conscious and alert when police arrived. First responders transported the victim to a local hospital.
