Auburn police are investigating a homicide that occurred July 3 involving a boy who died as a result of a shooting.

First reports of the homicide from the Auburn Police Department had identified the deceased as an adult man. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office later released findings documenting the age of the male discovered as 17-years-old.

According to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, Noah Keith Bagby, 17, died pn July 3 as a result of multiple gunshot wounds in a parking lot in the 1700 block of K Street Northeast.

Medical examiners identified Bagby’s death as a homicide.

According to the Auburn Police Department, officers responded just after 11 p.m. July 3 to reports of a shooting in the 1700 block of K Street Northeast.

Officers arrived at the scene to find an adult man who had suffered at least one gunshot wound, the Auburn Police Department had stated in its initial reports.

First responders performed life-saving measures, later pronouncing the boy as deceased at the scene, according to the department.

Detectives were notified of the incident and responded to the scene.

Limited information exists as of July 5 regarding the case, said Kolby Crossley, a spokesperson for the Auburn Police Department.

The boy received “at least” one gunshot wound to the chest, Crossley said. The shooting occurred in a parking lot.

Investigators collected evidence and conducted an investigation at the scene, Crossley said.

According to the department’s public information log, investigators collected 32 shell casings as evidence at the scene, in addition to bullet fragments and various articles of clothing.

The department continues to search for suspects and investigate the homicide, including examining whether the incident served as gang-related.

Investigators do not believe there currently exists a threat to the community, Crossley said. Law enforcement believe the homicide served as a targeted attack.

“We’re still looking for suspects,” Crossley said.
