Collision in Auburn hospitalizes two women and child

A two-vehicle collision in Auburn on Sept. 26 resulted in the hospitalizations of two women and a minor.

The Washington State Patrol arrested a 33-year-old Orting man on charges of DUI and vehicular assault for his role in the collision.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the 33-year-old man struck the vehicle of three Puyallup residents — two women and a minor — as they sat stalled on the shoulder of the roadway.

The 33-year-old man, traveling southbound on State Route 167, north of 15th Street Southwest, left the lanes and began driving on the right shoulder, striking the Puyallup residents’ vehicle, with the vehicles arriving at a stop in the lanes.

All three Puyallup residents, not wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision, suffered injuries, according to state patrol. First responders transported the three residents to Harborview Medical Center. The collision totaled both vehicles.

The 33-year-old man suffered no injuries in the collision, and the Washington State Patrol identified the collision as resulting from DUI. The collision resulted in roadway blockages for an hour and 41 minutes, according to the state patrol.
