Local Ford dealers are partnering with the Seattle Mariners and Kent-based Northwest Harvest to collect much needed peanut butter to feed the region’s hungry youth over the summer.
People are already bringing jars of peanut butter to local Ford dealers, which runs the drive through May 21. The public is encouraged to bring peanut butter jars to the Mariners’ Peanut Butter Drive game against the Angels on Saturday (6:10 p.m. first pitch).
Local Ford dealers are already seeing a record amount of peanut butter being donated from the community.
Last year’s drive collected more than 30,000 pounds of peanut butter throughout the five-state Northwest region and for the first time, Skippy Peanut Butter has agreed to match all donations, potentially doubling that effort.
In addition, Way Scarff of Scarff Ford in Auburn is matching all donations to his dealership.
Peanut butter is an important protein staple to feed kids during these summer months, but it is difficult to acquire adequate quantities.
The drive officially kicks off Saturday at Ford dealers and runs through May 21. Those unable to donate in person, can also give online at www.fordfeedskids.org and clicking the food bank of their choice to make a cash donation.
