If you need help with your taxes, free help is available in Auburn for those making less than $50,000 per year and those over 50 years of age.
Help with Spanish and Tagalog speaking clients also is available. Those interested in assistance can do so in one of two ways.
Free Tax Preparation by United Way of King County will be offered at Auburn City Hall, 25 W. Main St. on the second floor. Agents are available Tuesday-Thursday 6-9 p.m. (Spanish on Tuesdays and Tagalog available all days). No appointment is necessary and agents will be available through April 15.
Quality Tax preparation is provided by IRS-certificated, multilingual volunteers. This is a free service for households making less than $50,000; citizenship not necessary and electronic filling will be utilized for faster refunds.
Those interested in the tax preparation assistance should bring all applicable tax forms and a bank account number (checking or savings) to have your refund directly deposited into your account.
Service is only for basic tax returns only (no business taxes, rental income or sale of property or stock). For more information on the United Way Tax Preparation Program, call 206-349-9337.
For those over 50 years of age, beginning Feb. 1 and continuing through April 12, AARP-trained tax counselors will be on hand on Monday and Tuesday mornings at the Auburn Senior Activity Center to help complete 2010 income tax forms. Call the Senior Center at 253-931-3016 for an appointment.
