Auburn High School hosts the 25th annual Auburn Veterans Day Marching Band Competition from 1-10 p.m. Saturday at Auburn Memorial Stadium, 801 Fourth St. NE.

The showcase – sponsored by the Auburn High School Band and Choir Parents – features more than 30 high school marching bands from Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

Bands will compete in the parade and field show competition. The event features performances in marching band music, precision (marching) and drill (formation).

The event is the Pacific Northwest’s largest and longest running marching band competition, according to Sue Hoffman, Auburn High School Alumni Band parent rep and Veterans Day chair.

In addition, 27 high school marching bands are scheduled to appear in the 46th Veterans Day Parade beginning at 11 a.m. along Main Street, which constitutes preliminary marching competition.

Auburn Mayor Pete Lewis and his wife, Kathy, Superintendent of the Auburn School District Kip Herren, and Auburn Senior High School Assistant Principal Stacy Jordison will present the awards following a full-band retreat at 9:30 p.m.

Ticket prices for all-day admission are: adults $14; students (6-18) $10; senior citizens (62 and older) $10; and children under 5 are free.

Proceeds from the marching band competition will benefit band and choir programs at Auburn High School.

Gates open at noon with the first performance starting at 1 p.m. on Troy Field.

Two full-service concession stands will be open during the competition. Handicap parking and seating are available in Auburn Memorial Stadium’s fully covered grandstand bleachers.
